Do Not Lose Heart

Posted by Aundra

The past couple of weeks have been gruesome. On a personal level, community level, national level, universal level, and all other levels there are of concern. During this period I discovered some new words to live by. These words are comforting to read, easy to speak but difficult to live by especially when your heart is heavy.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
(2 Corinthians 4:16-18 NIV)

Those words may describe someone you know. They are struggling to hold on to their hope. Life has worn them out. Problems at work. Bills mounting. Broken relationships. Disappointments. Day after day they face life wondering if it will ever get better. Yes friends, unhappiness is a choice.

This month’s song comes from Sarah Brightman if your friend comes to you for help, or to share their story with you, share the words above and share the song below.

Big men and small character…..fancier houses, but broken homes.

Posted by Aundra

I received an email from my friend Crystal this morning which had a message from George Carlin. While doing some research I found out that the excerpt that I am about to share  was not written by George Carlin but by Dr. Bob Moorhead, I’m not here to blab about who wrote it, what the heck! it’s a briliant piece. If you’ve read it before please read it again, there’s something there for all of us.

I truly believe that each individual should make it a priority to be self aware. So many of us get lost protecting our fears and reputation and are not conscious of how lost we are.

I agree with his core message, it makes you stop and think…………

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but
shorter tempers, wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more,
but have less; we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and
smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees
but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more
problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little,
drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too
little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom. We have multiplied our
possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and
hate too often.

We’ve learned how to make a living, but not a life. We’ve added years to
life not life to years. We’ve been all the way to the moon and back, but
have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer
space but not inner space.

We’ve done larger things, but not better things. We’ve cleaned up the air,
but polluted the soul. We’ve conquered the atom, but not our prejudice.

We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less.

We’ve learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold
more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less
and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small
character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of
two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes.

These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one
night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer,
to quiet, to kill.

It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the
stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time
when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete.

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going
to be around forever. Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to
you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your
side.

Remember to give a warm hug to the one next to you because that is the only
treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn’t cost a cent. Remember,
to say, “I love you” to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all
mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep
inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday
that person will not be there again. Give time to love, give time to speak
and give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

……….If our voice was a little louder, would the good Lord hear us better?

I can now allow my ego to obey my spirit.

What does it mean to be here? What does it mean to have friends? What does it mean to get dressed, to have a meal, to work? What does it mean to come home? What is the difference between the living and the dead?

I sometimes wonder if the ‘dead’ are not more present, more comfortable, more there than most of the living.

Today I want to be doing things to be doing them, not to drive to get there, make love to have climaxes, or study to ‘keep abreast.’

I don’t want to do things to sell myself on myself. I don’t want to do nice things for people so that I will be ‘nice.’ I don’t want to work to make money, I want to work to work.

Today I don’t want to live for, I want to live.

This powerful experience below has helped me to tap in to that “still, small space within” leaving me to think that there are more questions than answers to life.

I think we must purposely choose to be connected with all of humanity and project peace to one another, instead of choosing to be individuals—I, Me, Myself—and not being concerned with those around us. Thank you Jill for being an emissary bridge.

Prayer For The Day

Posted by Aundra

Dear Lord,

Thank you for the nights rest you gave me.
I am grateful for the renewed energy and enthusiasm it has brought.
Accept my gratitude for bringing  me to the beginning of this new day.
I accept it as a precious gift from you.
May I use it minute by minute to do your will.
Guide me in every problem I face, every decision I make this day.
Help me to treat everyone kindly, fairly, and thoughtfully.
If ever I should forget you during this day, please do not forget me.
Amen.
